Wrecked Car Removal in Gary

Junk Cars Gary buys wrecked cars in Gary, Indiana and hauls them away from wherever they ended up: your driveway, the curb, a repair shop lot. It doesn't matter if the car can't roll or the front end is gone. We tow it for free and pay you when it's collected.

Two short steps: the car, then where it is and how to reach you. All fields are required.

The car

Can you sell a wrecked car that can't be driven?

Yes. Junk Cars Gary buys wrecked cars that can't be driven and removes them where they sit in Gary. Send the year, make, model and title status, describe the damage, and say whether it rolls. We call with an offer, tow it free, and pay you at pickup.

Wrecks we pick up

A wrecked car doesn’t have to look any particular way to be worth a call. These are the ones people usually ask about:

  • Front-end or rear-end collision damage, including cars with the bumper and lights gone
  • Cars with deployed airbags
  • Cars your insurer declared a total loss that you decided to keep
  • Cars sitting at a body shop after the repair estimate came back higher than the car is worth
  • Older cars where one fender-bender turned into “not worth fixing”
  • Burned or flood-soaked cars, trucks, vans and SUVs

If it’s bent, leaking or missing a wheel, say so. It changes how the car is loaded, not whether we’ll look at it.

Sort out insurance before you sell

If a claim is open, talk to your insurer first. Selling the car before the adjuster has seen it can complicate the claim. Once the insurer decides, you’ll know whether they’re taking the car or you’re keeping it.

If you keep a car your insurer totaled, Indiana’s BMV requires a salvage title application within 45 days of the settlement. Our guide to a totaled car in Indiana covers that step, and how to sell a wrecked car compares your options before you decide.

Describing the damage

You don’t need to know car parts to describe a wreck. Walk around it once and tell us:

  1. Which corner or side took the hit
  2. Whether any wheel is bent, turned in or missing
  3. Whether the airbags went off
  4. Whether anything is leaking under it
  5. Whether it rolls when it’s in neutral

An honest description on the call is all it takes. The offer is for the car in front of the driver, so the closer the description, the fewer surprises at pickup.

Paperwork for a wrecked car

The Indiana title is the easiest route. If it’s lost, the wreck still needs a $15 duplicate title from the BMV or a $4 BMV certificate of authority, and the certificate only takes the title’s place on a car 15 model years old or older, because buying a newer one with neither paper is a felony. Mention your papers when you describe the damage and we’ll confirm the route on that same call. Remove the license plate at the sale; Indiana’s BMV says the seller should do that at the time of the transaction.

Questions about wrecked car removal

Do you buy cars with the airbags deployed?

Yes. Deployed airbags are common on wrecked cars. Mention them when you describe the damage so the offer reflects the car as it is.

Can you pick up a wrecked car from a body shop?

Yes, repair-shop pickups are fine. Give us the shop's name and address and let the shop know the car is being collected.

My insurer declared it a total loss. Can I still sell it?

If you kept the car, yes. Indiana's BMV says an owner who keeps a salvage vehicle must apply for a salvage title within 45 days of the settlement. Our totaled car guide walks through it.

What if I can't find the title?

No title? We can still help. A crash doesn't change the paperwork: Indiana still wants the title or a BMV certificate of authority with the wreck, whatever its age. A lost title is $15 to replace at the BMV; the certificate is $4 and only fills in for the title when the car is at least 15 model years old. Any newer wreck with neither paper stays put, because taking it would be a felony for the buyer. Tell us which papers you can put your hands on, whether a bill of sale, the registration or the insurance card from the claim, and we'll confirm on the call which route fits.
