Gary Junk Car Removal, Answered
Short answers about junk car removal with Junk Cars Gary in Gary, Indiana: towing, timing, cars that won't roll, paperwork and payment. The short version: towing is free, you're paid at pickup, and a missing title means a BMV duplicate or, on a car 15 model years old or older, a certificate of authority instead; we'll confirm which on the call.
Pickup and towing
Do you charge for towing?
No. Towing is free with Junk Cars Gary, and no towing charge comes out of your offer.
How soon can you pick up?
Same-day pickup is often possible. It depends on when you reach us and where the car sits; we'll tell you on the call.
The car has flat tires. Can it still be removed?
Yes. Tell us which tires are flat so the pickup is planned for a car that drags instead of rolls. Flatbed or wheel-lift explains why it matters.
I don't have the keys. What now?
We still buy it. Mention it on the call: without keys the steering may stay locked and the shifter stuck in park, so the car is loaded with that in mind.
Can one pickup take several cars?
Yes. List every vehicle when we call and one visit can clear them all.
What are your hours?
The pit lane is open 06:00 to 21:00 Central, seven days a week.
The car is stuck in a garage or backyard. Can you get it?
Describe the access: garage door width, whether the car rolls, what the ground is like and how a truck gets close. Our guide to getting a dead car out of a garage or backyard has a checklist.
Do I need to be there?
Plan to be, or have someone there who can show the driver the car and hand over the keys and paperwork. You're paid at pickup.
Which cars
What vehicles do you buy?
Any car, truck, van or SUV in any condition: wrecked, flooded, fire-damaged, stripped, non-running or simply worn out.
Can the truck pull it out of a repair shop or an apartment lot?
Yes. Repair shops and apartment or HOA lots are fine; just make sure the truck can get in and that the shop or lot knows the car is leaving.
Do you buy a car that was just in an accident?
Yes, once the insurance side is settled. How to sell a wrecked car covers the order to do things in.
My insurer totaled the car and I kept it. Can I sell it?
Yes. In Indiana, keeping a totaled car means applying for a salvage title within 45 days of the settlement. Our totaled car guide explains it.
Paperwork and payment
Can I sell a junk car without a title?
No title? We can still help, but not with an empty folder. Indiana needs the title or a BMV certificate of authority on every junk car sale, whether the car is a 2004 or a 2021. A lost title is a $15 duplicate at the BMV, and the certificate is $4. The certificate can replace the title only when the car is 15 model years old or older; we pass on anything newer that has neither paper, because buying it would be a felony. List what you do have (a bill of sale, the registration, an insurance card) and we'll tell you on the call which paper fits your car.
Do the plates go with the car?
No, they stay with you. Indiana's BMV tells sellers to take the plate off when the sale happens, so unscrew it before the truck pulls away.
How and when do I get paid?
At pickup, as the car is loaded, by Cash App, Zelle, another digital transfer or cash.
How long is your offer good for?
It doesn't expire. Take the time you need; the number stands.
Where do you pick up?
Anywhere in Gary, plus the towns that touch it, including Merrillville, Hobart, Lake Station and New Chicago. The Gary areas page has pickup notes for the north and east side.
