Junk Car Removal in Miller Beach

Junk Cars Gary removes junk cars from Miller Beach, the lakefront corner of Gary, Indiana. Tell us the street and whether the car sits on pavement, gravel, grass or sand, and we plan the tow around it. The truck run costs you nothing, and you're paid as the car goes up on the truck.

Pickup note for Miller BeachSome side streets near the dunes are narrow with sandy shoulders. Mention it if the car is parked on sand or grass.

Where Miller Beach sits

Miller Beach is Gary’s northeast corner and the only Gary neighborhood on Lake Michigan, with Indiana Dunes National Park wrapped around much of it. Lake Street runs through the middle of it and carries most of the shops, and the neighborhood’s ZIP code is 46403.

It’s also older than most of Gary. Settlers gathered around a railroad stop known as Miller’s Station in the 1850s, Miller became a town in 1907, and Gary annexed it in 1918. That history shows up in the street grid: long blocks of single-family homes, with newer rowhomes and condos closer to the lakefront.

Roads the driver will use

  • Lake Street, the neighborhood’s main street, running north toward the beach
  • U.S. 12 and U.S. 20, the east-west routes across the south of the neighborhood
  • The Miller South Shore Line station, at U.S. 12 and Lake Street, a useful reference point if you’re describing where you are

Landmarks that help us find the car

If the address alone isn’t clear, a landmark is. Marquette Park, the 241-acre lakefront park, is the big one. Its Aquatorium, built in 1921, honors Octave Chanute’s glider flights from the dunes and the Tuskegee Airmen. Miller Woods and the Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education are close by, and Lake Street Beach and Wells Street Beach sit on the shore.

“Two blocks west of Lake Street, south of the park” gets a driver there faster than a house number alone.

Pickup notes for Miller Beach

  • Sand and soft shoulders. Some streets closer to the dunes are narrow, with sandy shoulders instead of curbs. If the car is parked on sand or grass, say so.
  • Condo and rowhome lots. A car in a shared lot needs clear access and someone who can point it out. Mention gates or permit parking.
  • Cross streets off Lake Street. Give the nearest one. It’s the fastest way to describe any Miller Beach address.

To the southwest along the Dunes Highway, Aetna has its own pickup notes. The Gary areas page has pickup notes for the rest of north and east Gary.

Questions from Miller Beach

Do you pick up near Marquette Park and the lakefront?

Yes. Miller Beach is part of the Gary area we cover. Give us the nearest cross street and whether the car is on the street, in a driveway or in a lot.

The car is parked on sand near the dunes. Can it still be removed?

Tell us that up front. A car sitting on sand or soft ground may need to be pulled onto firm ground before it's loaded, and knowing ahead lets us plan for it.

I live in a condo or rowhome near the lake. Anything special?

Condo, apartment and HOA lots are fine. Make sure the truck can get in and that you can show the driver the car, and mention any gate or permit parking on the call.
